Scora Support
Live match tracking for Gaelic games: football, hurling, camogie and LGFA.
Welcome to Scora
Scora is a speed-first match tracker built for the sideline. Log a score, a card, a substitution or a kickout in two taps, and the scoreboard, timeline, stats, shot map and player breakdowns all update from the one live match.
It's built for coaches, selectors, analysts and club media who need to capture what happens as it happens, without missing the next play. No account, no sign-up, and it works with no signal at a remote pitch.
Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started
1. What does Scora do?
Scora records everything that happens in a Gaelic games match in real time: scores, wides, frees, 45s/65s, fouls, cards, substitutions, kickouts/puckouts, turnovers, marks, blocks and saves. All of it feeds a live scoreboard, a minute-by-minute timeline, head-to-head stats, per-player breakdowns and a shot map. When the game ends you have a full match record you can share, export or keep for the season.
2. Do I need an account or an internet connection?
No to both. Scora has no sign-up, no login and no cloud sync. Everything is stored on your device and the app works completely offline, which is the point, because most pitches have no signal.
3. Which codes does Scora support?
Four: Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies' Football (LGFA). The app adapts to the code you pick: puckouts instead of kickouts in hurling and camogie, a 65 instead of a 45 in hurling, 2-pointers in football and LGFA only, and the correct sin-bin card for each code. You choose a default sport during setup and can change it per match or in Settings.
4. How do I start a match?
Tap New Match on the home screen. Set the two teams and their colours, the competition and venue if you want them, the sport, and the half length. Scora remembers your club, your colours and recent opponents, so most match setups are a few taps. Then tap through to the live match screen and start the clock.
5. How do I add my squad?
Open My squad (Settings) or the Squad tab in a live match. You can edit players one at a time, or use mass input to paste a whole team list at once, one player per line, with the jersey number first:
1 Player Name
2 Player Name
3 Player Name
Save it as your club panel and every new match pre-fills with that squad. Scora warns you if two players end up with the same jersey number.
Tracking a match
6. How do I log an event?
Two taps: tap the action (POINT, GOAL, WIDE, FREE, CARD…), then tap the player. That's it. The score, timeline and stats all update immediately. The last event you logged appears as a chip at the bottom of the screen with an UNDO button.
7. How do I track the opposition when I don't have their team list?
Use the team selector to switch sides and log an unattributed score. It counts fully towards the scoreboard, the timeline and the stats. It just isn't credited to a named player. You get an honest opposition score without having to type in fifteen names you don't know.
8. I logged something wrong. Can I fix it?
Yes, three ways:
- Undo the last event straight from the chip on the capture screen.
- Tap any event in the Timeline to edit its time or its player, including clearing a wrong attribution so it becomes unattributed again.
- Delete an event entirely (with a confirmation first).
Everything is re-derived from the event log, so a correction fixes the scoreboard, the stats, the minutes played and the shot map at the same time.
9. How does the match clock work?
The clock is anchored to real time, not to a ticking timer, so it stays accurate if you lock the phone, take a call, switch apps or the app is closed and reopened. The screen stays awake while you're on the live match page. You can pause and resume, nudge the time forward or back if the referee's watch disagrees with yours, and move through half-time, the second half, extra time and full time.
10. Can I change the half length?
Yes: 20, 25, 30 or 35 minutes per half, so juvenile and adult grades are both covered. Set a default in Settings or change it when you create a match. Extra time is a fixed 2 × 10 minutes, as per the rules.
11. How do sin bins work?
Scora applies the correct rule for the code you're tracking:
- Football, hurling and camogie: the black card carries a 10-minute sin bin. (In hurling and camogie the black card exists at U18 and younger under the 2026 dissent rule.)
- LGFA: the yellow card carries the sin bin, and you choose the length (3, 5 or 10 minutes).
The countdown runs on real played time and carries correctly across half-time, so a bin that starts at 28 minutes finishes at the right moment in the second half. You get a banner, a ring on the player in the squad view, and a haptic alert when they're due back. A player serving a sin bin can't be substituted until the bin has been served.
12. What happens when I log a red card?
The player is dismissed at the time of the card: they leave the field, no replacement comes on, the team plays short, their minutes stop there, and any sin bin they were serving ends. They won't be offered on the pitch or the bench again. Anything they scored before the card still stands. Undo or delete the red card and all of it reverses.
13. How do substitutions work?
Tap SUB, pick who's coming off and who's coming on. The on-pitch fifteen and the bench are both derived from the event log, so they stay correct through undos, edits and rolling substitutions. Players who come on can be credited with events straight away, and per-player minutes count every stint, including a player who goes off and comes back on later.
14. Can I record where shots were taken from?
Yes. Turn on Place shots on the pitch in Settings and shot capture adds one extra step: tap the pitch where the shot was taken. Those real positions drive the shot map and the heatmap on the Pitch tab. With the setting off, capture stays at two taps and the Pitch tab shows an honest tally instead. Scora never invents shot positions it doesn't have.
15. Can I track more than one match at a time?
Yes. Scora supports multiple concurrent live matches with a switcher on the home screen, each with its own clock, squad and score. Handy for a blitz or a double-header.
Stats, history and seasons
16. What stats does Scora show?
Live, as you capture: head-to-head bars (frees, turnovers, kickouts and more), shot share, a kickout/puckout card split by outcome, free conversion, top scorers, and a full/first-half/second-half/extra-time filter. Tap any scorer for their individual breakdown.
17. Where do finished matches go?
Into History. Every completed match keeps its full timeline, stats, shot map and scorers, not just the final score. Open any match to review it, export it or share it.
18. What is the Seasons view?
Scora groups your finished matches by competition and shows your record, form, points and player season profiles across the whole campaign, with an exportable season report.
19. Can I search my match history?
Yes. Match search lets you find any past match across your full history. (Premium.)
20. How do I share or export a match?
Four ways, from a live match or from History:
- Share cards: broadcast-style images in four designs (Scoreboard, Top scorer, Full time, Head to head) that you can copy, share or save to your photos.
- PDF report: a one-page match report, previewed before you send it.
- CSV: every logged event as spreadsheet rows, for your own analysis.
- Plain text: a quick summary to paste into a WhatsApp group or a post.
21. What is the tactics board?
A drawing board with player counters, freehand and arrow tools, move/remove and undo, for setting up a play at half-time or planning a drill. Share it as an image when you're done.
Notifications
22. What notifications does Scora send?
Only two, and both are about a match you're actually tracking:
- Still-tracking reminder: a nudge if you leave the app for 15 minutes with a match still running.
- Half-end alert: tells you when the half's minutes are up while you're away from the app.
Both can be turned off in Settings → Notifications, and there's a test notification if you want to confirm delivery. Scora sends no marketing notifications.
Your data
23. Where is my data stored?
On your device, in local storage. There is no account, no server and no cloud sync, so your matches, players and events stay on your phone unless you explicitly share or export them. Separately, the app sends anonymous usage and crash diagnostics to the services in the next question.
24. Does Scora use any third-party services?
A few. They cover analytics, crash reporting, platform services on Android, and Premium purchases:
- Google Analytics for Firebase, for anonymous usage statistics (terms)
- Firebase Crashlytics, for crash and stability reports (terms)
- Google Play Services, required by Android, covered by the Google Terms of Service
- RevenueCat, which processes Premium purchases (terms)
- Superwall, which presents the Premium offer (terms)
Everything they receive is anonymous. Scora has no accounts, so there is no identity to attach it to, and your match data is never synced to the cloud.
Scora's Privacy Policy links each of their privacy policies and sets out what they collect.
25. How do I back up my data?
Settings → Backup & restore → Create backup. Scora writes your entire database (every match, player and event, plus your settings and saved squad) to a single backup file you control, and opens the share sheet so you can save it to Files, AirDrop it, or email it to yourself.
Scora also takes an automatic backup at full time of every match and keeps the twelve most recent, so a lost phone costs you at most the match in progress.
26. How do I move to a new phone?
Create a backup on the old phone, get the file onto the new one (Files, AirDrop, email, whatever suits), install Scora, then Settings → Backup & restore → Restore backup and pick the file. Restoring replaces everything currently in the app, so Scora takes a safety snapshot of your current data first in case you restore the wrong file.
27. How do I delete everything?
Settings → Delete all data permanently removes every match, lineup and event and returns the app to empty. It cannot be undone, so take a backup first if there's any chance you'll want the data back. You can also delete a single match from its History detail page.
28. What is "Generate mock data"?
A developer/demo option that replaces your data with a season of test matches so you can see what the app looks like with a history behind it. It replaces real data, so only use it on a fresh install or after taking a backup.
Scora Premium
29. What's free and what's Premium?
Free covers the whole job of tracking a match: unlimited matches, all four codes, full event capture, the live scoreboard and score summary, the clock and periods, sin bins and cards, substitutions, the squad and club panel, the timeline with editing and undo, and match history.
Scora Premium unlocks the analysis and output layer:
- Advanced stats: head-to-head, kickouts/puckouts, frees and top scorers
- The shot map and shot heatmap
- Broadcast-style share cards
- PDF and CSV exports
- Season insights and season reports
- Match search across your history
- The tactics board
- Backup and restore
30. I already paid. How do I get Premium back on a new phone?
Settings → Restore purchases. Sign in with the same store account you bought it with, App Store or Google Play, and your entitlement is restored. There's no separate account to recover.
31. Do I need Premium to keep the matches I've already tracked?
No. Your matches, events and history are yours regardless. Premium gates analysis and export features, never your data.
Everything else
32. Does Scora work in landscape or on a tablet?
Scora is portrait-only and designed for one-handed use on a phone at the side of a pitch. It runs on tablets, but the layout is built for phone-sized portrait screens.
33. Is there a dark mode?
Not yet. Scora ships with a single high-contrast light theme chosen to stay legible in bright daylight and rain, which is the condition it's most often used in.
34. Is Scora affiliated with the GAA, the LGFA or the Camogie Association?
No. Scora is an independent app and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the GAA or any other governing body. Rule references (sin-bin lengths, 2-pointers, kickout rules) are implemented to match the published rules of each code, but the app is a tracking tool, not an official record, and it doesn't enforce refereeing decisions. It records whatever you log.
35. Something isn't working / I have an idea for a feature.
Please get in touch using the details below. Match-day bug reports are especially welcome; if you can tell us the code you were tracking and what you'd just tapped, that's usually enough for us to track it down.
